The Antinori came to Florence in the 1300s and were soon involved in the silk trade.  A bit later on, the family became involved in viticulture, and established what is today the third oldest continually-producing vineyard in the world.  A branch of the family also exists in Naples.  Both branches were ennobled; the Florentine branch with the title of Marquis and the Neopolitan branch with the title of Duke.
