In the beginning stages of planning our move, Rob and I went back and forth about whether or not to ship some belongings over to Italy. It seemed like an unnecessary expense but we are (a) attached to our HUGE library of books and (b) attached to our high-end kitchen/cooking tools. We knew we wanted both with us over in Italy as creature comforts.
The tough thing about shipping companies is that there are so many to choose from. In my searching, I found at least 30 companies that do overseas moving. As such, even in the expat forums it was hard to find many reviews about each company -- well, except for one...the one we're going with!
UPakWeShip had about 10 reviews in one forum alone. 5 were good, 2 were ambivalent and 3 were not so good. Why go with a company that had three bad reviews? Because those reviews were very detailed. For people like us that that need to ship low-value, non-fragile items, the non-frills, get-it-done style of UPakWeShip is perfect. If we were shipping furniture or items of high value, it may not be the right choice.
It feels good to have one big thing checked off the list. Getting Winston's arrangements figured out is our next big project!
