Over the next few weeks we'll be sharing a ton of photos, stories and travel tips from our weeklong holiday in the countrside of Tuscany. It was a last-minute trip that turned out to be exactly what we needed.
First up on the recap list is to tell you about Agriturismo San Clemente, our home base for the week. An agriturismo is (generally speaking) a property available for rent on a active, working farm. This means that the properties are often surrounded by grape vines and olive trees (see the top right circle). The view from the pool was absolutely stunning.
Some agriturismi have a single room they rent or perhaps rent out an entire house. At Agriturismo San Clemente, the house is actually divided up into six fully appointed apartments. Ours was a one-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment with a great small kitchen. Here's a look inside:
Agriturismo San Clemente totally a hidden gem. The location is fantastic -- about 40 mintues from Florence and with an adorable small town, Panzano (which we will tell you all about), only a 5 minute drive away. The property was renovated a few years ago and they've only been renting rooms for about a year. As such, prices are still quite reasonable as they build up a good review base.
The only downside is that the Argiturismo is right off the road, so during the day you can hear lots of cars some by. At night, it's pretty silent. Also, as you may have guessed, they are pet-friendly.
Planning a trip to Tuscany? We highly suggest Agriturismo San Clemente.
