It's hard to believe that it has been a year since we got "trapped" at the 2011 Florence Wine event during a ridiculous hail storm. Rest assured, this year was just as fun, but far less wet (unless, of course, you take into consideration the massive amount of wine that Rob consumed).
Alas, I couldn't drink this year -- although I did get to sample some of Rob's top picks -- but it's still a fun way to spend a Saturday night with friends and a lazy Sunday afternoon with your husband. Since ten (or more) wine tastings is a lot to handle in one trip, it's nice to be able to go in and out over the course of the 3-day event.
The Florence Wine Event is easily one of our favorite annual events here in Florence. Unlike the gelato festival (which was a bit of an expensive letdown this year compared to 2011), the Florence Wine Event stayed the same price ($10) and you still got a lot of wine tastings for the price. Rob tasted wines from a lot of area producers, as well as some far North and South vineyards that made the journey for the event.
If you find yourself in Florence next June, we highly suggest checking this amazing event out!
