When I’m at book events or signings people will often ask what books are similar to mine — it’s a great way for potential readers to know if my novels are a good fit for them. One of my favorite things about my debut novel, Gracie Harris is Under Construction, is how beautifully it comps to other contemporary romances!

Today I’m sharing three “If you loved this, try Gracie” book comparisons. The best part? If you’ve already read Gracie you’ll be able to use these recommendations in the opposite direction, too!

#1 Nora Goes Off Script

This is the book that I recommend most often as the best comp, in part because it features a forty-something single mom main character who is struggling to get her life together after a big loss (in this case, her long term marriage to divorce). It’s funny, heartfelt, and features a couple worth rooting for. Just like Gracie!

If you’re a reader who likes serious undertones in contemporary romance, look no farther than these two! Both of our books feature moms still figuring things out after losing their husbands young. They both ask the question: if a second chance a love pops up before you’re totally ready, are you willing to take the risk again?

Yes, this is the book that was turned into a swoony drama starring Hillary Swank. Both books feature journeys of self discovery — Holly throughs letters written by her late husband and Gracie in the column that she writes working through her grief.
