All about me

Focused leader, conscious creator

I’m a multi-passionate woman in tech who loves to share my time and expertise with others.

Whether I’m building high-performing technical teams in my University work or writing blog posts about the intersection of parenting and technology, I love to guide others to successful outcomes.

Maybe we met at a conference, you found me on Insta, or our paths crossed somewhere else. Whatever brought you to my little corner of the internet…welcome!

I believe: technology should be fun, inclusive, and safe for everyone who wants to experience it.

 MY STORY

Community and connection follow me wherever I go.

I've lived in many places over the past two decades — DC, Louisville, Philly, Chapel Hill, and, yes, even Florence, Italy — and the one thing that's remained the same in all of those different spots is how much of my life, my time, is spent online

From the moment we got our first home computer in the late-90s (and I practically lived on AOL) to the present day, I have found value and community in online spaces. The internet landscape has shifted dramatically in that time, but I've evolved along with it. In many ways, the virtual world is where I feel most comfortable.

As such, it's no surprise that my career and passion projects have taken me deeper into information technology. I'm an IT leader at one of the nation's preeminent research Universities. I lead a team of 90 employees as we strive to provide excellent services and support to our 45,000+ faculty, staff, and students.

Tell me about Italy!

My husband and I ran our IT consulting business from stunning Florence, Italy, for nearly four years (2011 - 2014). It was as dreamy and inspirational as you imagine.

We planned to live abroad for just one year but stayed for four. The Italian lifestyle was a perfect match for us! We left Italy with the best souvenirs ever: our daughter Livia (now 11 years old) and lifelong friendships with the people we met. We returned home so my husband could attend law school and I could return to work in higher education.

Because we get asked a lot: yes, we were on an episode of House Hunters International in 2011. We’re basically famous 😉.
