A note from Kate

I write for parents and caretakers overwhelmed with technology and unsure how to navigate new apps, screen time, appropriate use, and many other tech topics.

As a tech expert and a parent of two, I live and breathe these issues daily!

After years of being the go-to IRL friend for tech questions, I launched Parent Tech to broaden my reach and impact more families. I aim to make tech fun, even when discussing sticky topics.

Coming Fall 2023

Tech Reset Course

In this course, you’ll go from being frustrated by technology to feeling confident and in control. You’ll learn how to reset your family’s tech culture in as little as one week. Designed with busy parents in mind, this course covers my personal system to conquer the digital overwhelm, set healthy boundaries, and enter the new school year feeling prepared for the current stage of your family’s tech-centered life. Whether your kids are in diapers or headed off to college, this course is for you.

More about Parent Tech

I write for the “everyday parent” and keep tech jargon to a minimum. Whether your kids are toddlers or off to college, I’ve got expertise and advice for you. Now and again, I include tech tips designed to help us — parents — inject a little sanity into our lives.

Here’s the truth…

Parenting is challenging no matter which decade you find yourself doing it. Nostalgia for a “simpler time” can trick us into thinking that technology has made our lives more difficult. In reality, parenting in this technological age is easier in some ways and harder in others.

I believe…

  • We all want to raise good people who are responsible digital citizens. That’s the assumption that drives everything I write here.

  • We agree to disagree sometimes. Parenting and technology are both complicated. I share my opinions so that they can challenge or affirm yours.

  • We try our best. Parenting is hard. Every age brings new challenges while other things get easier. Parent Tech is a guilt-free zone.

  • Lastly, when it comes to tech, our kids will outsmart us. Come to peace with this fact.
